1. Sleep
Getting enough sleep is essential for our overall health and well-being. It can help us reduce stress, improve our mood, and enhance our physical and mental health.
How Sleep Reduces Stress
Sleep is essential for reducing stress. When we sleep, our body and mind can rest and recharge, allowing us to better manage our emotions and reactions. Lack of adequate sleep, can lead to increased stress levels, as our body and mind are unable to cope with the demands of daily life.
During sleep, our brain processes emotions and consolidates memories, which can help us manage stress more effectively. Sleep also reduces the production of stress hormones, such as cortisol, which can lead to a greater sense of calm and relaxation.
Tips to Get Better Sleep
Getting better sleep can be a challenge for many people. Here are some tips to help you get better sleep:
- Stick to a consistent sleep schedule. Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time each day, even on weekends.
- Create a relaxing sleep environment. Make sure your bedroom is cool, dark, and quiet. Invest in comfortable bedding and pillows.
- Avoid stimulating activities before bed. Avoid using electronic devices before bedtime and instead, engage in relaxing activities like reading or taking a warm bath.

2. Create a Rewards Schedule
One of the reasons that my cup feels empty is because I never take time to reward myself after extended periods of hard work. If you have ever seen a mom give their child a chores sticker chart then that is what I suggest you do to.
Let’s say you set a goal to wake up at 6am every day. After 2 weeks of keeping your goal reward yourself. Then once you can go a month waking up at 6 am you get a larger reward.
The trick is to have your reward schedule planned in advance so you have a specific goal you are working towards. Here is an example schedule:
Goal: Workout 5 days a week for at least 30 min, for 3 months
- 1 week of working out: a new shirt
- 1 month of working out: New pants
- 2 months of working out: New shoes
- 3 months of working out: a new hair cut
By the end you have a whole new look and you feel great because you achieved your goal. You also can use free things to motivate like a hot bath, a work free night to watch a movie or a video game, and game night etc.
3. Meditate

- Enhances focus and productivity: Meditation can improve your ability to concentrate and focus, which can help you be more productive in your daily life. It can also help improve decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Reduces physical symptoms: Meditation has been shown to reduce physical symptoms such as headaches, chronic pain, and high blood pressure. It can also help improve overall physical health and well-being.
Meditation is not just sitting in silence until your timer goes off. It is a skill that you will have to master. I recommend reading a book like this one to help guide you as you learn how to meditate, or use a guide book that takes you through mediation exercises like this one.
Another way I love to meditate is writing in my journal. If you are a beginner at journalling I suggest you get a guided journal like this one. After you have journaled for a while you will develop the skills you need to meditate and write all on your own.
