3. On the Water

See Bozeman from a different view. Bozeman’s Endeavor Ballooning is ready to offer the experience of a lifetime. Flying 200′ to 2,500′ above the ground in a hot air balloon with Montana views is a must! This is a great way to check something off your bucket list while seeing the Gallatin Valley.

7. Take A Hike:

Hiking in and around Bozeman is no minor thing. Wherever you find yourself, there is a hike just a short distance away! Bozeman offers hikes as easy as the Cherry River Recreation Area Loop right in Bozeman. North Bozeman has more challenging hikes like Saddle Peak in Custer Gallatin National Forest. 

A highly recommended hike in Bozeman is the ‘M’ trail. Montana State University students created the landmark “M” in 1915. If you want to go steep and direct to the M, you can take the first route right at the trail’s junction. Take a left for an easier and longer climb to enjoy your time! The ‘M’ trail is pretty much open all year. Just make sure to wear appropriate gear during the winter to keep your toes and fingers warm.

8. Drive on

If you don’t feel like getting out on a trail, there is another excellent way to guide yourself through the mountains. Whichever way you take the road, you will find yourself in the mountains with gorgeous sunsets waiting for you.
Like getting to most places from Bozeman, the drive between Big Sky and Bozeman is through a national forest. You can find many roads leading off into the mountains for you to enjoy being in nature from the safety and warmth of your vehicle.
Be mindful of where you go, though. Driving up into the mountains and having a picnic sounds like the perfect evening, but this is bear country. Hiking or spending time in the mountains at any time, make sure you’re cautious and have bear spray with you for emergencies. In this situation, it is better to be safe than sorry!
